Laurentian Codex. 1377
In Celebration of Russia's 1150th Anniversary of Statehood

The Laurentian Codex is one of the world's most important landmarks in the history of the hand-written book. The manuscript was compiled in 1377. It is the earliest surviving dated Russian chronicle.

Since 1811, the unique manuscript book, written on parchment, has been preseved in the National Library of Russia (formerly the Imperial Public Library) in Saint Petersburg.

The digitalisation project, we present here, aims to reproduce the Laurentian Chronicle in an electronic form and thus make this priceless cultural treasure of Russia accessible to the public.

The project is part of the events to celebrate Russia's 1150th anniversary of statehood, organized by the National Library of Russia, the Center for National Glory and the Presidential Library.
